fun in the snow

[BLADES]

Does anyone know of some makers of a waterproofing kit for the T-Maxx? I
just ran my T-maxx and Clodbuster in the snow. There was so much snow in my
T-maxx. I already did a waterproofing job on my Clod. I recalled back in
the days that someone made a clod that was so waterproof that they drove it
into a pond. I was wondering if someone made a kit for the T-maxx.

I've seen someone do it and it involved using balloons to go around all the
electronics. I'm not sure what you would do with the nitro motor, since if
you get any water in that, your done.

The nitro engine will be the real challenge.
It cant be covered up.
It must breathe and cool itself.
Just try to protect the radio.

I wish someone would make some kind of self sealing snorkel, so if water got
into it it would close up the air intake before it made its way into the
engine

I am a member of a RC air club with the field next to a lake with the
inevitable occasional plane going in the water. Water does not at all
damage your engine, just remove only the plug and rinse/flush the engine
with fuel, and run it as soon as possible again. A nose down crash into
land is much worse with all the dirt/sand.
Would be interesting to know if an nitro engine would keep running with
a snorkel, or would the cilinder/plug cool so it would not ignite
anymore. Anyone?

hrm, didnt think about that, maybe have some sort of sealed ignitor clip on
the end to keep constant power to the filiment? would burn though plugs like
crazy though...

A single NiCd cell will do that thrick, do not need to isolate is only
1.2V make wire thin and long enough to have a serious voltage drop so
only 0.something arrives at glow plug. Still think the engine will cut
due to extreme cilinder cooling.
Burning a few plugs can be easily justified when you are the first to
run a nitro rc under water.

They do run. hehe...been swamping with the frankenbug a bit.
water up to the carb.
3" long plastic tube for a snorkel.
You just gotta keep on the throttle enough so that the water flinging off
the flywheel doesnt stall it.

I just wanna say this was a write-up of frankenbug 2.0.
Shes on the bench now awaiting the parts to complete ver 4.0
(ofna .21, tmaxx tranny & tires, megaforce suspension and inferno diffs.
The 3 channel radio and megaforce tranny (crap) was installed in ver 3.0

don't know of a kit but like a few guys said, water won't hurt the engine just wd40 it after you run it and as for the electronics, seal off the reciever box and place the reciever itself in a balloon...works awesome

on a side note, a reminder to the new rc winter drivers out there....


dont ever let your truck shutdown in the snow, the quick temperature change can destroy and engine faster than you can say $h^%, snow and cold weathere arent a problem for nitro if the cars start up warm and shut down warm

If you suck water through the airfilter and carry the dirt down into
the engine that would be a Bad Thing.

I agree with this post. Water does not compress well and dirt, weeellll, we
know what that does to an engine.

As a matter of fact,a t-maxx is good in snow.(nice power slides)I never
ran into any problems with mine.I even have a ski setup that i use in
the winter.I use a pair of artattack's ski's off there sleds(a mod in
itself)But i also seal my servo's and radio box with vasoline.Another
fact most people do not know is that monster trucks float on water(real
and scale)if driven slow.I have done this with my max before.For non
beleivers fill up your bath tubs and gently set your max into the tub
you will see because of the bouincy of the tires will allow this.The
bigger the tire also increases the effect.I chatted with a guy once who
said that he used paddle tire's and had his max blazing on water.But i
would recomend 100% water protection.Vasoline is good for this and
actually works good.Put it around where all your servos fit together
and a good gob around where the wires come out,in your battery box all
around where it fits together and a glop around where the wire come out
and your all set.
And when you done blow dry the hell out of it.(all your screws will
rust if you dont)In fact lube the hell out of it before WD-40 is
good(water displacer #40)but use of it also has the drawback of
collecting grime.
