Regardless of price, which do you think is the most realistic helicopter simulation in terms of physics and the way it flies over fancy graphics?

Thanks for the response so far, I initially should Reflex XTR would be right up there with PhoenixRC.

Unless someone has a grand to spare, I doubt that most will have had the opportunity to of used / own all sim's so its a bit of a loaded poll really. I've used XTR, and AFPD, so I can't really say how well they compare to G4 as I've never used it.

I like Heli-x as far as how it feels or looks to me. Even thou it's free.
I'm fortunate to have it run on my PC without any problems
It's still young. Even thou there's not alot of objects or buffers
avaliable at the moment. The Helicopter collection is get bigger
by the day.

My reason is..becuase in Heli-x the model can move side to side
and up and down the screen...just like in FMS when you trun OFF
the FIX camera posistion. This to me is more realistic...becuase I'm
not piveting my head in real life..and it's a bit harder to master a model.
It just feels more real to me this way.

I can edit the .XML files to change the perimeters of the models.

In the G3.5...I'm still struggling to get use to the idea that G3 dosn't do that.
I'm stuck between manual zoom...which will allow the model to move up
and down. Or the keep ground in View..option..but it looks wierd when the
model do a loop ..the camera automatic zoom way out...
why can't they just keep it simple ?

yeah i would like to have all the sims to really, really test them...but i don't
think that's going to happen unless i hit the jackpot or something.lol

I agree with Mal C. Most people answering this poll will have only tried one or two of the listed sims, so they can't really give a first person opinion about which one is most realistic. So polls like this really just end up telling you which sim the greatest number of forum readers own, or which one has the most successful advertising or the most buzz on the forums. I don't mean to pick on the person who posted this poll though; it's still fun to have polls like this, I just wouldn't take the results very seriously.

I never flown PhoenixRC or Heli-X but I have flown, Clearview, Realflight (G3, 3.5, and 4), and the others. Which one would I go with, Clearview. Why? It looks good, handles closest to real life, easy to mod, and is updated once a month or so. In the pic below, thats my PBY made by Ken, lower left coner, my Tribute 3D, I made that, and then the Blade 400 also by Ken.

Realflight also looks good but it's more like a video game, planes are very easy to fly and so are helicopter (well, those are never easy but, its as easy as it gets). The water on Realfight stinks, I mean its horrible. Besides the bounce affect, its not anything like real water. I cant speak much for the other programs, but Im going to stick with Clearview.

I've used Realflight G3, Reflex XTR and Phoenix.

I first bought Realflight G3, then switched to Reflex XTR, then switched again to Phoenix.

I find the physics on Realflight G3 to be slightly unrealistic in that the Helicopters seem to be easier to fly than in real life. Reflex XTR seemed much better in terms of helicopter physics, but Reflex pissed me off when they stopped updates for the old interface (V5.03). I seriously thought of upgrading to Reflex XTR V5.04 since I did like the physics, but decided that I'd try Phoenix instead since the XTR upgrade versus buying Phoenix is basically about the same price.

I'm very glad I switched to Phoenix now since there hasn't been a single update on Reflex since V5.04 was released. On the other hand, Phoenix has been updated constantly and has changed significantly since I bought it. It's gone from 1.03 to 1.05h, from a purely static scenery to now with "real" water interaction. There has also been many new models added, additional sceneries, and they have just released a tool to enable you to paint the canopy on your model. Best of all, all the upgrades, models and tools have been free. :) The physics model on Phoenix is just as good as Reflex XTR, and recent changes has also made it more realistic. In addition, Phoenix has great customer service, and seems to respond to customer feedback as to future enhancements.

I would say in a year, Clearview will be just as good as Phoenix RC
