Hi all. Can .40 size airplanes be flown on 5s a123? I've got a Swift 16 heli coming that I plan to convert to a123's using a 10s dewalt pack.

I currently have an Avistar nitro trainer that I'm about to outgrow and I'd like to sell my nitro stuff and go electric. I'd like to stay with 5s a123 because I can wire two of them together in series and get a 10s "brick" pack that fits well in the heli and would allow me to use a 5s pack in an airplane.

If you can in fact fly them on 5s - what would be a good choice for a second plane that will accomodate them? (I need an ARF due to limited time and I'd rather spend it flying than building?)

Also - what size plane uses 10s a123's - a .60?

Thanks

5 cell series A 123's is about equal to 4S LiPo... (I think.. voltage wise...)

the 4S I was pushing a GPSRC.com 5055/b (sorta equal to AXi 4120... between /14 and /18) with resulted in better "pull" than a typical .46 glow engine.

I don't have the data written down... it was appx 30 amps turning a 12X6 Zinger wood. (Dynam 60 amp ESC 4000 mah (+/- 300...) 4S LiPos )

I used a pair of this setup to power a twin... Cessna 337 by Nitroplanes.com... the 83 inch one. It could take off on one with a respectable climb rate.
