I'd like to buy a good TD-style full house 2 meter glider. I'm currently torn between the Organic and the Alto. Any opinions on which is the "better" glider?

If you can find one the Skybench Osprey 2M is a great ship also.

I hav the Organic 2.5. Beautiful flier... Probably the best plane I have owned during 9years of Rcflying.

I fly the Nova II from Hobby Club, and it weighs in at 34-oz. Great model and it has served me well, in all weather conditions. But I have to admit that when I show up for a contest and I see the Organic in someone's hands, I know I have to fly darn good...or else! Typical 2-meter Organics come in at 28 to 29 ounces. When you look at the math, just compare 29 oz versus 34 oz and you can see the wingload difference. I would recommend either model, but both are not easy to find, especially the TD version of the Nova II, also called Ruby by others. TD version weighs 22-oz empty. Otherwise it will weigh 28 to 30 empty, making it good for slope only.

Another note on the Organic, it's very well built.
The quality is second to none and in my opinion 'flawless'! I have now ordered the Ava from same manufacturer...
I don't mean to push the Organic because I am not familiar with the other plane you're choosing from, but I like it very much, both flying wise and quality of construction....oh yeah, it is pretty too! (sorry :) :) :) )

Only if their skills are reasonably close to yours. If your skills are decisively better, most of the time you will beat that guy no matter how good his glider is. They all go up in lift and down in sink.
I've seen 25 year old woodies beat Avas and the like.
I profess no opinion on something like the Organic.
If I had LOTS of bucks for this task I'd get someone to build me an Aegea II. If I had LOTS of time I'd try to build one.

I've had a few 2M models but have been flying an Organic for several years. It does everything really well, though perhaps not any one thing superbly. The MH32 is not an ideal airfoil for a model this size, but it can be made to work and the light weight certainly helps. It's crazy strong, no issues on launch.
Among models that you don't have to build, the Laser, Super V and Mantis are also very competitive if you can find them.

Get something "obsolete", preferably with battle scars, wrinkles, etc. You'll find that the gloating is much better when you win anyway.
BTW, would you be interested in a Mariah which meets the above criteria? All it needs is a radio install, and you can use standard servos for flaps, elevator, and rudder. ;-)
