I've heard the figures 10% -15% less efficient than props, but I'm not sure.

Thanks Fleety.
I won't miss a chance to post a pic of one of my favorites. The Wallypower 118'
Here's one of the homemade jets & one of her at full clip. Props might be faster but this is scale. I ran it on a 4s lipo the other day. Hmmm. Very quick.
Good fun though.

Paul,
I don't see any reverse buckets?
Do you reverse the motors or just hope for the best?
I was lucky enough to see this beauty in the med and your model looks great.

Thanks.
Yes. Just reverse the motors. There's enough reverse thrust as long as no air is sucked in.

I once got into quite a heated debate over jet drive efficiency in another forum. A real boat designer for some reason tried to smash me to bits for merely suggesting that there's an efficiency loss at all. Personally I do think there should be some loss but in the rc world, I think the question is more about speed. In which case the jet easily looses. As hard as I've tried to make a very fast rc jet boat, she always looses to her surface drive sister ship. By like 10-15mph, with the same power and batteries. All exactly the same. In the world of real boats, I believe you'd say the surface drive is less efficient, but that's because theyre meant for all out speed.........the real world and rc world have very little in common. There arent many of us that would idle our rc boats for an hour and run WOT for 15minutes like the real world...........in the rc world this is basically the opposite.
