I just loaded up easyfly2 and plugged the supplied usb adapter into my radio, but the program says it recognizes something in the usb port, but the reciever needs to be in PPM mode to work. I've done a couple hours worth of searching and I can't find any info to change the mode on my radio. Any ideas? Thanks!

Oh and I'm assuming the adapter plugs into the port labelled 'D.S.C.' on the back of the radio!

some of the radios coming out of the far east don't use "standard" ppm or use a version of pcm. To be honest you would be better off looking at the classified section / e-bay / car boot / garage sale for a simple 4 or 6 channel Futaba / JR tx and use that fo simming

Malc,
It's not an "Eastern" radio, he's talking about Spektrum DX6.

Camo,
Is it an older DX6 or new DXi6? To save a couple of cents in DXi6, Spektrum apparently simplified the circuit (they got rid of capacitor decoupling, or whatever it's called), which resulted in the change of the signal voltage. Because of this, many older interfaces, which worked fine with all previous Spektrum models, may not work with DXi6...

Whoops - sorry ! I (wrongly) assumed it was one of the Walkera type clones - my apologies

It's just a plain ole DX6 - no 'i' on the radio. I bought it used from someone on this site who upgraded to a DX7, so I'd imagine it's a couple years old. Any idea how to swith to 'PPM' mode so that it will work with easyfly2? Thanks!

Camo,

You don't need to switch it, it always sends PPM to its trainer connector. I've never had trouble with the good 'ol DX6.

I'm not familiar with either EasyFly2 or AeroFly Pro interfaces, so, I have no idea how they handle JR-style PPM. I remember trying Reflex XTR and while I totally admired the software, the interface was a piece of crap--I wouldn't be surprised if it had trouble with slightly different transmitters...

Bluesky123, thanks for the info. I've read a couple posts on this and other sites regarding the poor 'adapter' or 'connector'. Some have run out and bought a replacement with a stereo lead on one end and usb on the other and the program has worked fine. That's my next try.

you can't simply solder a stereo jack plug to a USB connector. All USB interfaces use electronics (often a PIC microchip) to do the conversion and "talk" to the PC

Malc C,
Sorry for my misleading and unclear description. What I meant was that some 'others' have bought a pre-made stereo jack to usb adapter and it's worked fine. Something about the extreme poor quality of the one that comes with the sim.
