Has anyone tried the cripple capacitor mod for the Bit char-G controler? I just got a new special edition Bit-Char-G and its range is about 5-8 feet.

I want to know how good this mod works before i try it on mine.

here is a post. Click on the right link and it is the #6 mod.

I had one bit char G that would not go further then the length of the transmitter antenna.. like why bother being wireles?!!? :) then I unsoldered the cap inside it now it goes like 8-10 feet... turns out they dont realy care what capaicotr size they put on the transmitters sometimes its a 10, sometimes its a 20, sometimes its a 30, like the one I pulled out of the super short range one...

The cripple cap on the car did absolutly nothing for range...

Check out the first few pages of the 'sticky bitcharger conversion' page, there is some real interesting stuff about extending range.
Also, check out the 'bitcharger secrets revealed' page, both under the Indoor and Micro section sub-forum.The bitcharger secrets page has a link to a site containing a how-to to modify you Tx for 200' range.

Check it out.

I would suggest first opening up the car, extending antenna as long as possible and rerouting it under the PCB and out the back.
Please keep in mind that other household electronics may be interfering with the signal so give it a try in a remote place before hacking it up. Also the 57mhz Tomy's and Micro Sizers don't get that great reception to start off with. The bes would be 35 or 45mhz.
You can find out a lot more here. (http://www.microrccenter.com/forum/index.php?)
