Hello. My name is Carlos Reyes and I'm the founder of RCAdvisor.com, a new online model airplane calculator. The website launched at the beginning of January, but today I wrapped up the beta test period.

This is a free calculator. All I ask is that you become a registered member of the website first. The beta testers liked it very much.

The focus right now is on performance calculations for electric model airplanes. I also have an airfoil analyzer and a scale model sizing tool. More to come!

Am looking to a C.G. calculator at present time. Used to be one on Internet about three years ago, and it is now gone. It had several "Options" that could be used.

I recently came across a plan that does not have the C.G. shown, and according to original draftsman, "I forgot" So, right now, I can pretty well determine where present C.G. is located at. But,.... cannot locate were it is "Supposed to be at" for an aerobatic model. I have charts for trainers, scale, and other slow flyng models, but nothing for the fast and maneuverable. The present model does not handle anything like original did, and it is also now lighter and more powerful.

How about a calculator for Best C.G. location based upon criteria of uses.

A friend of mine recently built an Old Timer from an 80 year old set of plans. No, no CG identified. Flying stab, too. The first flight is guaranteed to be fun.

To be useful, a CG calculator really needs to take wing geometry and airfoils into account. I've started working on one for my online calculator, but cannot say when it'll be released.

That is good then.

Those older plans often did not have a CG noted on them...anyplace. They would say to test fly into weeds etc...

But what if you do not like how it flies normally?

Went through to add my model, could not get any info from it, told me I had to pay to enable some of the buttons. Not really free then?

This is a pretty good CG calculator, for free, no registration required. Pick your static margin (maybe 10% to 15% for a stable airplane, as low as 5% or slightly less for a more neutral sailplane or aerobatic model).

The airfoil is not included in this calculator. The airfoil only makes a minor difference for most aircraft.

Here's the CG calculators I've used.

This first one is rather simple but works well for normal PSS slope planes. It should work fine for any conventional layout sport plane too. http://www.inlandsloperebels.com/Calc/cgcalc.html

This one is much more advanced, taking into account the tailplane. I haven't compared them very closely, but at first glance it appears similar to the one posted by kcaldwell: http://adamone.rchomepage.com/cg_calc.htm

There is also a version of that one for multi panel wings: http://adamone.rchomepage.com/cg2_calc.htm

This is the canard version of the last one. http://adamone.rchomepage.com/cg_canard.htm

There are also other tools on that web page, such as a motor and prop calculator. I have not used these, so I have no idea how they compare to what you have on your site, Carlos. http://adamone.rchomepage.com/
