EK005 Honey Bee Mk 3
20-1/4" main rotor diameter, 21" fuselage length, 9 oz. flying weight. Honey Bee Mark 3 includes a 2-cell 800 mAh LiPoly battery pack and a dedicated LiPoly battery field charger. Ready to fly within minutes of opening the box. Charge the flight pack and you are ready. If you are a beginner, leaving the flybar weights at the outer position will dampen the controls and make the helicopter easier to fly. As you improve, move the weights in for quicker response. The swashplate has a metal ball for reduced wear and precise control. The servos are screwed to the frame for solid response. Main rotor has a fiberglass plate reducing blade coning, which improves the helicopters forward flight. Main and tail rotors are fixed pitch and are controlled by individual motors. The mixing board controls mixing of the main and tail rotors. The board also contains 2 speed controls, a peizo gyro for tail stabilizing and a battery-eliminator-circuit, which supplies power to the receiver and servos. A complete line of spare parts is available from Hobby Lobby. *Note - spare parts for the Honey Bee Mk. 2 and Mk. 3 are the same.

I have not one, but TWO of these. Because, well, stuff happens. I am generally happy with my purchase, now if only flying heli's wasn't so frustrating sometimes.

Finally got to fly outside in fairly warm, fairly calm conditions today. Had some good flights with two of my three HBFP's. Did a successfull nose up funnel for the first time and some figure eights and big circles before crashing the first one. Broke a skid, rotor head and paddle control frame on that heli.
Then had another good flight going on number two heli. Got a slo-max 300 high performance brushed motor on it and was up high enough I thought I would try a loop. Well bad idea of course and it did loop over but was not able to pull out in time and am now ordering complete barebones airframe to get this one going again. The 4 in 1 unit and servos and motors survived but most everything else was shredded to bits! It nosed straight in from about 75 feet up. Made a sickening thud. Heli abuse is a growing problem and I'm sad to admit I'm one of the worst offenders. :D

I just ordered a Honey Bee MK3- have a Blade CX now that I have been flying- I am doing forward flight, backward flight circles, nose in hovering and figure eights, etc. Hope this will be the next level for me. :)

I am not doing so well. I have balanced the main blades. Balanced the smaller blades. Moved the lipo forward to bring cog at swashblade. I just cannot fly this heli. Power up with heli facing away from me and pulls to left as expected. I try and anticpate with a little right input. Not much if any wobble but it is very touchy. Any amount of correction seems like too much. Heli not turning much to left or right. Is there anything I am missing?

One quick question? I assume the sharp part of the swashplate blade is supposed to be pointing toward the ground just a little bit.

I want to buy this heli. And I would own one right now if it weren't for one critical problem. There seems to be a national (USA) shortage of certain parts. Like the rotor head. You know, the stuff that breaks the most. I guess until that's resolved I'll just keep practicing on the lamaV4.

Those parts have come back into stock in many places.

Doesn't seem like anyone is getting answers on this thread? Is the thread starter Flyboone here to help us, or are we just supposed to help each other out?
I have a question though... what is the flight time with the included 7.4v 800mah battery?

I called Hobby Lobby today and was told that the HoneyBee Mk3 was not in yet , they said they were waiting for the 2.4GHZ ones and the price would go up to 129.95. I wonder if you preorder if you can get the new one for the $99.95 price? :)

Hmm, I didn't know they were coming out with a 2.4ghz one...
Idk if you could pre-order it at the previous price or not. You could always call and see, or just do it and see. I don't think the 2.4 is worth $30, I will probably still get the 72mhz one somewhere else at the $99ish price.

You can buy a HB K2 for same price and much better HElI. The HB MK3 is decent but has fragile L/G/ Vertical fin is very weak. Plus side its lite and will take abuse. Bigger Heli's just fly better, ole saying you get what you pay for.
Helihobby are good to deal with.

I bought one of the Honybee Mk3's about a month ago and it is a super little Heli :) .
About three or four years ago, I had purchased a Hummingbird, look about like the Mk3, but never could fly it. I even opted for their upgrade Gyro etc. etc. and no luck, it was uncontrollable. So much for a handy little backyard Heli  .
Went to learning on a gas Kyosha Nexus .30, never got good but could maintain a hover and cruise up and down the airfield  .
Then my local HL dealer got these and I watched him fly, I even watched others flying them. They flew them in the Dealers store, outside on the field and they did great even in forward flight. I fought the Heli urge but I am week, and finally caved in :o . Boy am I glad I did this thing is fun :D ! It is what it is, a basic entry Heli, and it does exactly what is is designed for.
May your days be windless, sunny, and the ground very, very soft. :D :D
PS: It reminds me a little of flying a Light-Machine I had, but without the oil and alcohol glow fuel running down your arm, or watching as the crummy little motor would be screaming along at 15,000rpm and in the next hart beat go silent. It was great watching that thing just fold it's wings like a duck shot by a 12gauge and drop to the ground :D . Electric is sooo much better  .

They are the same except the mk3 comes with a lipo instead of the Nmh.

alton man is correct. the HB and HB mk3 are exactly the same expec for the battery. but the lipo batter is lighter, and can almost double your flight time

Never hook up a battery with the transmitter off! The receiver doesn't have directions about what to do so it goes nuts. Always make sure that the transmitter is on, the channels on the Tx and Rx are the same, you are not on anyone else's channel and the throttle and throttle trim are both down.

Hello, and welcome to RCGroups. I am taking that you are a complete beginner, correct? Please tell us your rc history and i think that some suggestions can be made. Some people will reccomend a co-axil heli, while others will say go straight to Fixed pitch. But either way, i reccomend getting a good flight simulator that you can hook a remote up to your computer.
