I have a Nexstar EP coming and it needs a RX and batterys. Would a Hitec Micro OS-5 work? Also can you suggest a good battery setup? (Lipo). Thanks!

Yes, on the rx (albeit a single conversion rx). Should work fine.

I think a 4s 3000-4000mah pack would work great on this airplane.
