does anyone know if this is legal in the uk, as i have looking at it on the
web and it appeals to me in a big way.

I've heard of at least a couple of guys - 1 in England & the other in
Scotland, I think - working seriously on it. You might try joining
the topica.com BigGun e-mail list & ask there. I'm pretty sure that's
where I heard, but I know it's been awhile.
If you seriously want to get something started, see:
http://www.rcwarships.com & check out some of the links there. I know
there are groups in Denmark & Sweden. I seem to recall a guy in
Germany, as well, wanting to get something going.

Before you commit to 1/144 scale check out 1/72nd scale. The detailing is far more accurate and the number of guns is usually less therefore the cost of your boat is less. We have one member in Scotland, I have not seen him for three years, but when last we spoke he was getting a few guys together to play.
