Ill be converting a Guillow's Spitfire for R/C, and before i start, i need some advice.
What size/type of brushless motor should i use for the project? I'm kind of lost on the subject and im not sure how much itll weigh, but I need something that'll be somewhat fast still. thanks

Hi spencerhicks ,
Let me be the first to welcome you to E-zone!
I've not done the spitfire but there are a few here that have.
If you do a search of all forums using Guillow & Spitfire, you will find some very detailed info.
here's one I know of to start you off.

I built one and was amazed at how straightforward it went. A bit of washout and ailerons, and it flew good off the bat. The plane has 144sq-in, the most of that Guillows series. I think I was around 14oz, which was no problem with a GWS geared 350 brushed setup on 3s.

Before it had ailerons, it would roll over before getting off 30 feet, with the original rud/elev setup. When I launched with ailerons, I was expecting to need major correction on launch. I needed none at all. Apparantly the 2 solid degrees of right thrust added while I did the aileron mod must have solved the torque roll problem completely, as I didn't need any input on launch. Went off beautifully.

quick question while the construction starts, whats the best way to set up the aileron hinges? if anyone could link a pretty explicit description of that process that would help me so much, thanks
