Hi all:)

I just joined the Allegro-Lite Yahoo group and found the plans for the Aegea and Aegea II 2m. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with it, as I was quite impressed (as with all Mark Drela Designs:))

I'm planning to order a multitude of foam cores within the next month or two for everything from a big PSS EPP racer to maybe a SupeGee DLG. The Aegea sounds like a nice little composite ship that I could fly at UC Irvine's fields, and might just order a set of cores. Any recommendations for making it a two piece wing?

Also, any experiences, thoughs, etc on the Bubble Dancer and Allegro series? I really love strong built up designs...Will likely call Laser Arts for a rib set for the Allegro-Lite as well:)

Thanks for your input...
Godspeed and see you on the flipside,
Ray:D

A flying buddy of mine, Bud Elder, built the composite Allegro and I have flown it. It is possibly one of the best performing 2-meter designs ever. The Allegro Lite with an even lower wing loading will be able to work weak, low level lift better but that's all. Best of all, they are indestructable in the air. They are capable of something like 100 G maneuvers.

I built a vacuum bagged wing version of the BD using the AG2- series of airfoils. It weighed 54 ounces compared to the BD's 32 ounces. Even at the higher wing loading it had the best hang time of anything I have flown. It also had outstanding penetration at a wing loading of 8 ounces per square foot. The structural design of my vacuum bagged wing was inferior to the true BD design but was quite servicable and would take a mild winch zoom.

Thanks for the help guys:)

Thanks to Mark Drela I now have five more projects to do!!
I've got a nice vacuum machine at home that I'll be able to use for baggin once I get the needed materials. I'll probably start with the Apogee 40", and then the SupeGee, followed by the Allegro-Lite and the Aegea II..then the crowning glory..the Bubble Dancer! Wish more people undertook these wonderful designs...
