I cannot find the hinge I am looking for. I went through the entire hardware and cabinet section at Lowes. They did not have it, and the staff didn't know what the hinge is called.

It is the kind of hinge used on folding boat stands. When the stand is folded, the hinge pivots in the middle and folds with the stand. When the stand is opened, the hinge has a tab that prevents the stand from opening too far and falling flat.

Does anyone know the exact name for this type of hinge so I can look for it and ask for it by name?

You want the stay-open thingie like on trunk lids? That's separate from the hinge.
But look here:
http://www.rockler.com/search_results.cfm?filter=hinge&submit.x=9&submit.y=12

There's lots of hinges including small box / jewelery box lid hinges...

Also search there on stuff like "supports"...

Something like the hinge used on folding card tables or toy box lids?
