I'm looking to buy a Zig Zag from someone, but it doesn't come with a tx or rx. I have several tx and rx that I have used in the past with my airplanes, and heli's and I'm wondering if this boat will take a "normal" tx rx to work it, or is it a special radio that is required?

flyboy, usa 27 and 75 mhz for surface models I think.
however if it is simply prop and rudder, electric, any 2 ch set will do

nearly any tx/rx set(surface freq pls) should work...off hand I can't remember if the esc is part of the stock rx or not. so you might need to buy an esc.

It comes with "newer" electronics;
400 motor, esc with bec
So I assume as you say most tx/rx should work with this setup (at least thats what I'm hoping)

well after a bit of searching...I found the manual, the good news it has a parts list. the bad, the rx, servo and speed control are not listed(tho they did list 6 different printed circut boards(1 for each freq)) which leads me to believe that; in order to change the rx to a non-stock unit, you will need 1 servo, and 1 esc, in addition to the rx. hth

It might be cheaper to purchase a new Aquacraft Reef Racer for parts. As I recall, the hulls are very similar.

Well what I'm hoping is that I can put my own rx that I have lying around from an old airplane into the ZZ and make it work.

Ahhhhh, I'm a bit thick. I see what your all saying now regarding surface frequencies. :rolleyes:
I didn't realize there were different requirements for surface and air. I'm up here in Canada, but I'm sure the regs are the same, I'll have to look.
