Im thinking of building a paparazzi autopilot. should i build tiny 1 or 2? the v2 isnt perfected yet but its easier to build. Ive seen aerocomm and maxstream data modems but dont know which one to get that will have about 10+ miles. The aerocomms are cheaper and thats my goal but it seems that maxstreams are used more.I dont have the faster usb 2.0 but i do have a serial port on my latop. Cheap is the goal since its for our high school ROV/UAV club.

Any advice and help is appreciated. If i figure everything out i can do a full build log to help anyone else wanting to build one.

I would go with the 2.11. The larger ground plane makes it a better choice GPS wise. 2 layers does make it a bit noisy, but its alright. Either modem "could" get you 10 miles range, but a lot of that depends on power settings and antenna. USB is only used to flash the autopilot, no need for it to be 2.0.
