I used to pal around with BAMM every sunday for just over a year... a member gave me a Tug that did see the water ... it was later shelved for 11 years and I've just dusted it off to repower it (thread farther down ;)
I was wondering if anyone could check around to see if anyone remembers it.. I'd kinda like to let the man know that I still have it and it's getting refurbed to see the water again and then given to another young boater to get him into the hobby!
heh as a side note it was kinda a charity gift.. and I think something for me to build so I wouldn't break his anymore :( .. I kinda set his boat down into the gap on a picnic table without turning off the receiver... there was a glitch and the motor spun, unfortunately the prop was stuck and it snapped the universal :(

I plan on getting my butt back over there .. I wanted to make it for the annual regatta.. but I fear I won't be able too.. as I usually hear about it after the fact .. or way too close to properly get away.
this is the tug

the Superstructure is a little too toonish for me now so I'm probably going to redo it with a little modernizing I'm gonna have to go through a bunch of pictures and.. I want sort of a mix between the new stuff and the nice looks and lines of the older tugs..

Hey... do they still use the little pond? with the lil club house... the Island off in the corner with the turtles .. heh
there were 2 guys I used to pal around with mainly.. older guys.. one usually brought a St Canute and a little sailboat
the other was a old lobster boat (the one I broke :( )
I've seen a couple posts from people about a Lake.. so I'm wondering if they have moved

Hi, Reckless!
I am a relatively new member at BAMM, I joined back in April of last year.
Yes, the clubhouse is still in use, as the pond off Imperial. ;)
We meet every Sunday, and people that don't have work (or school) meet on Wednesday.
The tug you have ... it looks like a Billings Bankert hull. Is it?
The fellows that you mentioned, Do you know their names?
I will try and ask around this Sunday.

hey while I'm waiting to see if these old members are still around (sad reality I'm thinking about) or if they remember me
is that MASSIVE tanker still there? or did the owner finally find some place to keep it and a reliable way to transport it?

Hi Reckless,
Don't recognize the models you mentioned.
I've been at the club a couple of years and heard about that tanker but never seen it.
Send me a PM with your email and I'll get you put on the list for our monthly news letter. Should give you some notice for our regatta.

okay... yeah that big ass tanker used to live in the club house on a cart. there is/was a track sitting down in the water that would get pulled up to the edge for the cart to launch the tanker

That tanker if memory serves me correct was the Impearial Tofino comming in at around 8'. Nice model. There was also harry Crosbys large container ship that was there several times that would unload cargo from the ship. This one was around 10'.

If in Nanaimo - former Burnaby pres is not far from you - should find his name in your directory. Will be a show in March up there as well.
