It seems that the Imara makes a very nice model.. once built...
From what i gather, there are several mistakes within the plan that cause problems and the quality of the fittings leaves a lot to be desired.
Having said that though, the Imara is one of the nicest looking tugs from that era and sounds as if it would be a good buy. They seem to change hands in the UK for 300+ UK Pounds ($600+), if that gives you an indication of its 'worth'
If you need info, try asking on Model Boat Mayhem (UK site) http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php

either way lol :p not that i dont want the seller to know :) Just wanted to know a price on here first
Iv seen a imara for sale thats finished and newish build with radio and what not to a very high spec for £250 but it was to far away to travel to pick it up :(
Im waiting for a shop to get back to me about a fishing boat, firstly :) If they can make it to the size i want then il be going to pick that up
Im after a inshore fishing boat thats 51ish inchs long, but they only sell one 33 inchs with a 14inchs beam... but if you dont ask them if they can build something bigger then you dont know lol
Either way im on the look out for a number of diffrent boats
Happy hunter, Smit R, Something like this, but open to anything over 1m

I like buildimg boats but hate paint. so I have two fire boats one 34" and one 24" ready for paint. and a tug that I just keep altering to stop me having to paint it.

HS93,
Peter,
I think that you are really beginning to get the hang of this boat-building thing and those white chocolate figures are very impressive.

Looks very good :)
Not many things with painting tbh, main thing is to get the hull in such a way that you can pick it up and turn it in the light so you can see how much has gone on what part of the hull, was abit hard todo this with the tito so, the red was hand painted on and the black was sprayed while it was up side down on the bench... but if it runs you have to wait for it to go off then rub it down ( the problem with this is that if you dont rub the hole hull down you will get a shinie bit.. and if you rub the hole hull down before the final coat you get a to shinie hull ) so gettin it right in the first place is a must
again this will only happen if you dont use matt paint :) matt paint is easyer to use :)
Other things are, if your using a spray... dont put alittle on at a time because it will look 10x worse than if it runs ( to little paint and it will look ruff ) so you need to not worry about it running ( again by holdin the hull upto light it will help you see how much your puttin on )
Hand paintin it tricker i feel its best to put a light coat on first then get thicker as you go :) ( more coats more paint )
it shouldnt take you long to paint a hull the tito from start to finish took half a day for the paint to go on and then left her over night and it was sorted
Paint that was used on the tito was marine black volvo outboard paint and marine red hull paint and marine Blackers bigle and locker paint Mid Grey for the decks
