Hi guys.
I basically gonna make myself a spray booth, and i know it should contain brushless motors.
I can get 120mm brushless motor from maplin which will move about 36 litre of air a sec. or i can get a bathroom exctractor which only moves 23 litres of air a minute.
would u suggest the 12v brushless motor.
also i was wondering about maybe either installing some form of heating the small spray booth. I was wondering weather using the 12v spot lights which are sealed, as these create a bit of heat.
Any suggestions would be good thanks

The small paint booth sold by Micro Mark moves 185 cu ft a minute
185 ft³ = 5238.616 l
I used a bathroom fan that moves 75 cu ft a minute, and it removes most of the
fumes, and keeps the space slightly fresh during the winter months. But it is not
able to contain the back spray from a standard spray can.
This is what I was thinking I could change up to.
Not sure what you might find locally.

The box stated that it was rated for grease, And it looks brushless, so I feel comfortable that it would be a good fan for a spray booth. Moves plenty of CFM
Then I was looking at something like this for a sanding table/room air filter.

hmmm. well in that case i could mounts say three or four of the brushless fans which would be 3 times 37litres a second. which equals 6660 litres/min

well i now have built the structure of the spray booth, just gotta put the back of it on, and get some perspex to make the hinged door.
Anyone got any suggestions about the heating of the booth to aid drying times???
also filter types and where to get them from. one for inlet and for exhaust.

60w light bulb? I do know that you don't want to over do it when warming fresh paint. methinks gentle warming say to 100F would work

My spray booth is 47" wide, 24" deep, and 24" high. Built as a down draft unit, a Dayton squirrel cage blower exhausts the fumes through a dryer vent to the basement window. A small flourescent fictures provides light. I use a 12" x 12" disposable HVAC filter, available at most hardware or home inprovement stores. I keep a heat gun at the spray booth, and usually use it to dry acrylic paints. I sometimes use the heat gun on oil based enamels and varnishes.

mines notquite as big as that, mine in 36 x 20 deep . gonna put ahinged perspex door on the front so one finished paying can seal it off to prevent dust settling. Mine will have the four fans situated in the back, then about an inch gap and a bit of mesh with the filter and mayber another bit of mesh to hold the filter in place. So i was looking a covering the entire back in a filter.

Hi You really need to put the filters before the fan carry over from the spray will soon cover the fans otherwise. Also note the capacity of the fans is rated with no obstruction, once the filters are in place it drops considerably.

yeh sorry, that was going from the fans into the booth. so it will go mesh inside the booth, then filter, then mesh, then inch gap then me four fans. might have to buy the sheet of filter of ebay. unless i can get some which is big enough to cover the entire back of my booth

ok guys and gals. Need advice on where to mount me four fans. Do i mount them into the back of the spray booth or to the bottom of te booth, As i thinking of making some backets to out it on the wall by my window in me shed, which would mean bottom would be better, And from wot i read a down draft is better anyways, Would that mean i should put the inlet holes in the top of the booth. Thanks James

how effective are all your homemade spray booths, i got mine up and running today. Not sure wot it will be like for airbrushing, but i sprayed the whole of the inside white gloss and go temendouse amount of blowback. I would think that four fans helped to take it away, but certainly didn't take it all.
I was using a gravity fed spray gun and 50psi.
