I have a Megatech transmitter with a futaba/hitec buddy box hook up that I just got a USB interface cord for. I know it should be able to work with FMS, but if someone could point me in the right direction on how to accomplish this, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

What interface did you get - its a bit hard to comment when you don't give us any brand or a link to where you got it from.

Basically, you plug one end in your TX the other in a USB port on the PC, windows should detect it as an HID device (normally as a windows joystick), you may or may not need to have the TX switched on (can't say I've come across your TX so don't know) - Then go into windows Control Panel and check the interface works by calibrating it via the "game controllers" - If you get that far then launch FMS, select the option to choose the interface and then map the channels so that when you move the sticks the corresponding control on the model is controlled.

If you get stuck - use the search this forum option for a more detailed reply on mapping the controller in FMS as its been covered time and time again on this forum ;)

I have done all of that. When I plugged in my transmitter, my computer automatically installed it as a joystick named "PPM." As I understand, once that happened, I should be able to open up FMS, go to 'Analog Control' and calibrate the transmitter like a joystick. However, when I go to 'Analog Control' then 'Joystick', there is no movement what so ever of the blue tubes. It seems that everyone else can just install their transmitter as a joystick and be fine. Is it a problem that my transmitter is made my Megatech? It has a Futaba/Hitec connection though, so I figured it would be a Futaba/Hitec transmitter. Please help, I would really appreciate it!

You didn't bother to read what Malc C wrote did you ? Calibrate in Windows/Game Controllers AND ONLY THEN in FMS.

Also make sure your transmitter outputs standard PPM. Is it stated to be compatible with Futaba buddy boxes or does the socket just look similar ?

BTW FMS will only use the first joystick in the games controllers list so make sure that's "PPM".

Yes, I have done all of that. But for some reason FMS is not recognizing the transmitter. How would I check to make sure my transmitter outputs standard PPM? I think this maybe the part that is messing things up, because it seems I have done everything right, but once I get to FMS, the transmitter is unresponsive. I only have one controller connected, so FMS would have to pick my transmitter right? Thank you so much for your help, I can't seem to find anyone else on this forum who has had the same issue.

Nick, I've read through both post and feel you are missing something. Can you confirm that if you navigate to control panel > game controllers that the interface is shown, and that when you click on it you are able to view the properties and run through the calibration there rathare than trying to do that in FMS.

My guess is that if that fails, then the TX is not sending a true PPM signal, or that you have a non-standard interface. Can you post a link as requested to the interface ?

Here is the interface cable:

I tried to find just the transmitter, but in true Megatech style, it just doesn't seem to be found. I did take some pics of the transmitter, hopefully that may help.

You seem to be claiming that you have the interface appearing as the first and only device in Windows / Settings/ Control Panel / Game Controllers, you've calibrated it there and seen all 4 channels working there but nothing works in FMS. I've never seen anything like that before so it's going to be difficult to help.

BTW what operating system are you using ? Win XP ? Home or Professional ? Vista ?

Windows XP, yeah it is the weirdest thing ever. I'm starting to think that the problem lies in the transmitter being a non-standard POS megatech product. Actually, I don't think that anyone can help, unless they have a transmitter for the Freedom Flyer. Thank you so much for your help, but I'm getting a Optic 6 for my birthday in May :D , so that should definitely work on my computer. Until then, I think there are more constructive ways to spend our time then try to figure out how a crappy transmitter works with FMS. :o Thanks again for your time though.
