Throw her in reverse captain

I told the father in law that it would be fine to throw his 540 brushed in reverse for 15 /20 seconds to reverse the direction of his rotating sail on his experimental cattamaran
Its one of those long tube rotating sails 70 dia x 800 mm long ,

do you guys concur

The only thing might happen is to damage the commutator ( unlikely ), brushes are indestructable

Its got no ESC just a on off and reverse switch

Maybe the boat forum guys would have a better idea of what you're talking about. Reversing a brushed motor is not particularly harmful, as long as it doesn't stay stalled too long due to the inertia of what ever it is coupled to.
