Hi all,
I want to try and use my stock esc 14.4 from a 3905 emaxx that was sitting around. It's the Traxxas by Novak orange one with the purple heat sinks.
I have a 55t integy motor for my rock crawer but was wondering how i would wire this up? I don't need 2 batts for my crawler. Do I short out the non-BEC side like the BL 4.5 novak's and use all 4 motor wires, or do I just use two of the motor wires. Or split up my battery packs 3 and 3. or will the esc just not work below 14.4v

Thanks!
Ross

I'm pretty sure it'll work on 7.2v. Instead of "short", the term you're looking for is "jumper" If you're using the old tamiya plugs, traxxas actually sells a jumper to do what you want to do. You can make your own too if you have a spare plug sitting around or are using deans plugs like you should. ;)

hey mtfly,
you always seem to be able to answer my questions!
thanks
I was the one who fryed my HV maxx, its at novak now getting fixed.
I made the jumper for my emaxx by getting a female deans and soldering the exposed ends together then shrinkwrapping it. The only thing is the instructions from traxxas says to not use less than 14.4v. So... do you think I could use a 4s lipo on one side? I'm actually looking for someone who actually did it, I had enough smoking esc's for one year! OR!!! what about splicing the two input wires together? I am trying to avoid splitting up my lipos.
Thanks

Thanks

You actually fried your HV-maxx? was there a lot of smoke or what? if not, it may have been your BEC that in it that smoked. If you disable your BEC (unplug red radio wire) and use a UBEC or seperate battery that goes straight to your radio you'll be better off.

shoots, I didn't even try disabling the bec I even have a ubec lying around. , I was so upset I packed it up and sent it to novak the next day. I tried to run the two 4s1p in parallel but grabbed my series connector from an old heli project, didn't check the wiring and poof. There was a glowing thing in the esc case though so maybe I did fry it. So what do you think about the 14.4 esc? I'll jump one side and run a 4s1p to the other side, hook up one motor and leave the other motor leads taped off.
Thanks

yup, sounds about right. I would use the UBEC you have laying around and disable the stock BEC too.

sounds like good advice, so sense smoking another esc.
