I've flown the Allegro Lite. That would probably be my choice if I didn't have something else already and was patient enough to build. Polecat Aero has a glider which is intended to be similar. It's not clear to me that flaps etc. are really worth it on a 2M, but then I'm not like other people....
If I was really patient and I needed full house, I might build one of Mark's other 2M designs. Aegea, maybe?
If I wasn't, I don't know which I'd pick, as I am not up on the latest in that market.
However, if you're a beginner, you need something with somewhat gentler handling. If it really has to be two meter, you could do worse than a Gentle Lady, though you'd have to go easy on the pedal. Sig Riser also. I suspect that the Chrysalis 2M would be a good choice, but I haven't flown that size. I once flew the Kestrel 2M and thought it had very nice handling, but I haven't instructed any beginners with it, and it IS a little bit faster. And I don't really know what the kit is like.
However, for purposes other than 2 meter contests, I think somewhat larger gliders are better. 100" or 2.5 meter are good. (Almost the same size.)

If you feel like building I've got some kit's for sale, NSP Kestral, Ace Easy Eagle, Prodigy, stuff like that. I know one kit I'm going to get again, 2m Illusion by M&M Glider Tech, thermaled it & sloped it finally dusted it to destruction a good all arounder. Dave.

Anyone ever figured out how to tame the stall on the Prodigy? It seemed pretty high performance, but every time you thought everything was just right, it would stall. Usually sharply and with little warning.

Thank's for a good design, Merril. Will you be competing in the SW Classic this W/E? Dave.

Rampage,
without knowing your goals, and unless you decide to take on a pretty serious building project, you'd be hard to beat the Rogue (as a 2M RES) and the Organic (as a 2M full-house ship). These planes show up at the Nats 2M event and do really well.
If you're up for a serious building project then you'd be hard to beat Dr. Drela's Allegro and/or Agea.

The Rogue looks very nice and for $500 RTF no less.
Looks like a sweet deal to me.
