Anyone able to provide spy reports from the Nürnberg Toy Fair this weekend?

This is where the European suppliers always announce their new stuff… Graupner, Robbe, Billing Boats, Dean's Marine, Revell and all the other biggies from around the world usually have their new stuff there.
It's only open to the trade, but surely we have some spies (er, privelaged insiders) who can give us the scoop?

That would be nice. Every year I have to do extensive searching on the net to locate reports, usually in a language I don't understand, about the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

Hey pat,

Bark "Humboldt", 1350mm overall, ARTR, prop powered, can't tell yet if the sails "work".

I just had a look in the Graupner News. The description says this:

- Ein Betrieb des Modells bei Windstärken über 1 Beaufort ist nicht zu empfehlen!
- Da das Modell kein verstellbares Rigg besitzt, sollte es quasi als Motorschiff mit Segeln gefahren werden.

Translated:

- operating the model at wind with more than 1 bft isn´t to be recommended!
- for the model has no adjustable rigg (is that the same word in english?) it should be driven as a motorship with sails.

Hope that helps.

Greetings,
Franz

Well, SHOWING doesn't mean SELLING... yet...

True... I'll try and settle down, but it bought up the memory of cut fingers and plastic putty going everywhere expect where I wanted it, trying to hash PT crew hybrids from Tamiya and Trumpeter figures :(

Did some more fishing around and found under the Trumpeter (http://www.primeportal.net/models/thomas_voigt2/trumpeter/) page some possible releases (some of us are still waiting for the 1/200 USS Arizona...).
Two posters for 1/350th's of the USS Arleigh Burke and HMS Repulse.

There's photos of a Richelieu (1/350th)

Also I found page listing a company called Soar Art (http://www.primeportal.net/models/thomas_voigt2/soar_art_144th_bismarck/) offering a 1/144th Bismarck  , did some more Googling and found on their website that their also list a 1/144th Yamato...
:censored:ing
Whether this happens or not I don't know, but if the Bismarck does happen I wouldn't mind one.

As Tom mentioned, they've been around for a while & their offering consists mainly of resin display models that aren't suited for RC.

I know this is supposed to be an RC boating forum, but has anyone seen any photos of the new RC tanks that were to be shown?

Typical...
I shall have to remain happy with the el'cheapo 1/350th Bismarck I've got...
and
...If the Italeri Schnellboot was released in November I would have bought it, however I have diverted those naval funds to another kit (http://www.billingboats.com/526.htm) since then....

You're really layering it on aren't you?
No sorry, but one of my new years resolutions was to stick to ships/boats in my period of interest; although there is some slight give, like a 1/350th HMS Repulse or 1/200th Arizona. Too much WWII kits out there and not enough WWI or Pre-WWI kits.

I do like that 60 inch WWI tug hull, but the postage would be crippling... I also had a heart attack when Dean's sent me a "loose" quote for shipping the HMS Dreadnought kit down here.

Hee hee, Stu, that 60 inch WWI tug hull would be good for sailing down there in the antipodes, but the postage would indeed cause you to have heart palpitations---. :D

Tom it depends on what you call a "normal" inventory. On something that size, the mold is generally in storage until I receive an order for one---. ;)

Then, I lay up a hull, after which the mold goes back into storage---. :D

It gets tougher every year, and I'm running out of space for even the regular-sized molds---.

Chuck

Yeah I've seen that kit for sale in Model Boats (UK) magazine for the last few months, but... £185 +p&p!!! That would make well over the 500 local 'pesos'.
Seems silly for such a simple model and the plans can be found on the US Navy's history website.

I vow to build the USS Monitor one day, but it keeps getting put off; I guess we are all guilty of that
