Don't know if this is news or not but I just read where Lindberg is coming out with some Ford flathead engines in 1:6 and a model T engine in 1:6. May be too big but worth a looksee. Pete

Probably a continuation of the line of engines made by Liberty Classics and marketed also by a few other companies such as Lindy:

Well those are pretty nice looking engines. Would any of them be big enough to put in one of our boats? Maybe on a platform above the can motors so they would look like they were runnng the boat. Actually I'd like a plastic engine that would fit down over the top of a can motor but leave enough space for cooling. A couple of those Chevy big blocks all chrome plated would be just right. Pete

There was an outfit selling the engines converted with electric motors inside. That was RC4WD and they were targeted at the scale monster truck and rock crawlers. SOme of these engines come as "assembly yourself kits" and you could install an electric motor inside of it when you build it. Here is a picture of the Hemi in a Crackerbox hull:

That looks great. From the looks of that picture I'd say those engines would look ok on one of these thirty plus inch boats. At $37 bucks a pop that's not too much to dress up an engine compartment.
Actually I like the can motors especially when they are wrapped with cooling tubes. They look mean like that or at least more interesting. Maybe if I get a job (cringe) I could buy a couple of them.
Do you know if the Liberty engines are kits or diecast solid in the middle?

Yes, they are made from several parts. They are not solid. Still, they are heavy.

I havn't seen the Model T engine but that sounds like it would be good for a deck engine on an old tuna boat or something.
