Hi guys,

I'm making my first step in boats and haven't got a feeling for the things yet. T'is gonna be a 30" all scrach build slim something with not much room inside. I'm putting in a jet drive that will run a 20mm diameter prop. What kind of a preferably compact engine would you usually attach to a 20mm diameter prop? I'm thinking of a brushless machine but not sure of size and type. As I'm still free to choose any mounting solution choice is wide open. Outrunner propaply would be hard to keep cool (?). Are there different choices? I know those from my planes...

Thanks,

Rolf

have a look at the specs for the jet star by Graupner, I think it has a speed 400 or something along those lines as thats is a small jet boat

Also try KMB Modellbau in Germany

Looks good, thanks for the hints. I guess I'll need something like a 500er equivalent.

rolf, going brushless is much better. plus its lighter compared to 540 size. i have used a walkera 180 inrunner in a graupner mini jet and it outperforms the previous motor i have put into (a 23 turn tamiya).
hope this helps

A puddle is good... a pond is even better... :p

It depends on where in the world you are...

my jetboats are 16" and I use the graupner mini jetpump that has a 20mm impeller.

I use the align trex 450 helicopter brushless motor for mine

its designed to have air flow through it using a built-in fan, its a hybrid outrunner that has a stationary outer can, which would allow one to water cool it if necessary.
