We've just returned from Youngleccy's first ever encounter with an RC boat. Santa left a Ready-To-Run US Coast Guard patrol boat under the tree and the drainage ponds at our flying site were pretty full after three days of continuous rain so it was the first chance today to launch her.

What a great afternoon :) The boat is "fantastic" according to YL and has a sprightly turn of pace, looking very scale-like in the water. Very manouverable and fun to play with and that is literally straight out of the box. The kit for the Vosper Air-Sea Rescue launch that has been unfinished for ages was brought out straight away and will also be patrolling the ponds looking for downed aircraft before the holidays are over.

At YL's request we've made a google search to see if there are kits or plans available for a WW2 landing craft but couldn't turn up anything suitable. Does anyone here have any leads?

Cheers

Floating Drydock has just about the most comprehensive listing of US warships available.

Search their site for something useful.

Just be sure you know what class of ship you are looking for.

Lindberg Models makes a 1/72nd scale American LST. It is about 16" long, plenty of size to make into a R/C model.:D
