Hey,
I would like to eventually build a solar balloon designed to carry a paload with GPS, camera, and maybe a servo to tilt the camera. Does anyone have info on an affordable radio setup that has a range of at least 10 miles? I'm talking about reaching very high altitudes, and I need control to take pictures, rotate camera, and pull a rip cord which will deflate the balloon when it is time to land (solar balloons will stay up all day, they don't pop). Also I will need the coords transmitted from the GPS in order to recover the balloon and track its flight path.

I know this has been done many times with weather balloons, now I want to try with a solar balloon, and I'm hoping for an affordable setup. First thing I want to figure out is the radio system...so does anyone know of something that might work for me?

Yes, I'm inexperienced with radio equipment  in case you didn't guess.

Thanks

this is a project of the future for me, but I'm starting now by doing research and finding the best setup. this will hopefully help me out.
