Is the Hirobo engine any good. A LHS wants to sell someone in our club one.
I vaguely remember reading that the first batch of engines had serious
problems. Were these problems fixed, and, if they were, how do you know if
you are getting the new fixed engine or the original.
Thanks,
Nice Fellow

Hirobo engine? - doesn't exist as far as I know.

CyberHeli stopped supplying the Hirobo engine due to the very high number of
returns. I believe Hirobo did address the issue (can't remember where I
read that), but I would be extremely careful. If the LHS is trying to push
the engine, they could easily just be trying to shift old stock (am I a
cynic, or what ? )
BTW, the engine had good reports when it was running - smooth and powerful.
So if they have fixed it it could be a good buy. You could also try the
TT39 which I have seen a couple of and both perform really well - much more
power than the benchmark OS32

Hirob do make a 36 size ringed engine. They had a few problems, which AFAIK
they have addressed
The phrase, "proceed with caution" would be fitting !

Hi Andy,
Now that you refer to the TT39 - is there a trick I don't know about? I got
one and was initially happy and even a bit impressed - as it came out of the
box. Only, even after now about ten tanks, the power isn't what I expected
and definitely no more than my OS32 (stock TT muffler for both, that is).
Against the former TT36 (it was 36, was it?) I noticed a huge improvement in
the carb. Needle setting is now a piece of cake - just as the OS always was.
But the power issue remains - by specs it should outperform a OS32 by far.
How to get there?

Hello,
Finaly someone talk about that engine. I bought it in september, before
i even put fuel in it i open it, what a bad surprise, the cylinder was
full of metal chip ( look like it came from the first glow plug
insertion) To clean it completly i had to open the engine completly and
i found a missing part. There was a nylon piece missing from the piston
pin. This missing part can lead to scratchs on the chamber wall and
premature breakdownd engine. Is it a new batch or a old batch??
I tried every thing to get in contact with Hirobo or the US distributor
but they all send me back tho my local hobby shop, where i discover the
worst service i ever find.
I'm very new in this hobby but i have mecanical and electronic
background. I found this hobby to carry a lot of bullshit even from the
most known compagnie and good reliable information is even hader to
find. I do not think i will last long in that over price hobbie.

Maxime,
Are you the Maxime from Montreal Canada that was here a while back asking
for advice.
If my memory serves me correctly I remember you coming here and asking some
questions and getting some really good advice. I do not remember any of the
advice being to buy the Hirobo engine. It seemed the advice was to buy the
OS and the Century Hawk or Raptor 30. What other items did you purchase?
