I am looking at purchasing G4 in the near future but will need to purchase a video card for my ole computer. Pentium 3. Everything except the video card will currently work. I would not to spend a fortune on a card .Just looking for the best buy for my buck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim :)

open ended question...
1st off : AGP - PCI or even PCI-X??
but with having a PIII I'm guessing an AGP slot ... Right?
So we need more details - Specs of the PC etc...

HighTech ATI X1950PRO 256MB GDDR3 DUAL DVI AGP 8X
but if your MB is only AGP 4 then AGP 8 card wont go in due to the different voltages.

Whats the best card i can use in my machine?

I have an Abit IC7-G

Im not sure what AGP port its got, i just know its a bit lacking. I cant run the latest version of clearview because it doesnt support somthing the newer version has?

IC7-G
P4-2.4@3.0
1G PC800
Geforce TI4200 video
160G Limp drive
Lite on burner

Ti4200 huh... they came in 2 differnet versions. 4x and of course 8x
Good thing tho' your MB has a 4x/8x AGP slot - the choice is yours.

Possibly the reason why you cant use the latest verion on clearview is the DirectX version of your card... Let me check.

Ahhh .. Clearview uses OpenGl

ClearView needs OpenGL 1.3 The most common reason for the program to fail in 99% of the cases is that your video card does not support the needed version of OpenGL. All you need to do is to download and install the latest video driver.

Go to the Nvidia website and download the latest driver (if you havent done so) install and see.
you should be ok... should.

I always thought that the drivers built around the time the video card was built were designed to better optimize those cards.

I use to run programs that would test your machine performance like the mad onion 3D mark program and test different drivers and i always had better performance with the drivers that came out when the card came out.

Ill try the new drivers though.
