Hi there...

I’m new in the forum. I recently bought a rtf airplane package, the TW-748 F4U Pirate Corsair with a 370 brushed engine and gear -box (1:5.3).
•Main wing area: 13.5 d㎡
•Wingspan: 890mm(35’’)
•Length: 680mm(26.77’’)
•Main wing area: 13.5 d㎡
•Main wing loading weight: 31g/ d㎡
•Flight weight: 420g
•Battery: 9.6V/650mAH
•Motor: 370A motor with gear-box (GWS/EPS 370 M0.4x74T - M0.4*14T)
•FM 4-channal proportional radio control
•Radio control distance: 300m

What’s the best set-up for this airplane (brushless engine, esc, li-po and propeller), I want to use a brushless with direct propeller.
Thanks for your help.

I assume you have managed to fly this so far - which is more than I have.
Do you find the Centre of Gravity too far forward ? - I don't know where it should be - but on my maiden flight it left my hand and went straight down into the ground.
Now all the glue has dried - I will be trying again tomorrow.

There is no instructions of where to put the battery - is it in the tight fitting compartment towards the front under the top hatch ?

you guys are in the wrong forum..I'm cuious..why do you guys refer to this F4U Corsair as a "Pirate" Corsair? Because of the cross bones and skull emblem? Its not a Pirate Corsair..its a F4U Corsair and I assure you pirates never used it in battle.Try this link for flight info on this plane...http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=932114

In the above link, you will find AT-6 but also the F4U Corsair which is made by the same company (TW).

Oh..just to save you some time, 35-45 mm from LE is the approximate COG.
35mm will make it more stable. 45mm is better for aerobatics and such.

here is the way to balance a warbird of this type....http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10918283&postcount=349

Can you be a little more specific? Generally, the radios in these are hit and miss. Even if you get one that works, it may have short range and or glitch. Is it the 27 or 72 mhz radio setup?

I got one of these from XenonProject, and it has taken quite a bit of "tweaking" to get it airworthy. 1st suggestion - get rid of the cheap nimh batteries and put a lipo in. I soldered on ESC connectors and put the lipo from my Super Cub in it and man what a difference. First successful flight.

hay people iv had this tw corsair for a few weeks now wasnt too impressed with it. cant seem to fly it at all bearly in the air for 30 secounds ,the slightest touch on the controlls seem to send it down to the ground even in very calm conditions. would like to convert it to lipo but im new to this wot do i need ?
