Engine Temp

Should the temp probe on a venom temp guage be wrapped around the
cylinder or head, I am getting temps around 300, wrapped around
cylinder with probe half on back and half above exaust port.

Oh and the weird thing is, right after landing I could just about lay
my hand on the engine head, I.E. it wasnt frying hot.
