My common sense tells me that Realflight G3.5 or 4 should both run just fine on the latest iMac running Bootcamp, Parallels, or Fusion. Just wondering if anyone has done it yet or done it with any of the newer Macs for that matter?

I run G4 with Bootcamp on a macbook pro with no problems. FYI G3.5 / 4 do not work with Parallels or Fusion (I have tried both) neither have the required direct x support (G3.5 / 4 needs shaders / 9.0c support BTW)

Awesome. Thanks for the info, I figured at least one of the 3 ways would work.

Interesting. I just picked up G3.5 today and tried to run it on parallels and it wouldn't start because (windows said) the controller couldn't be "Started". So it looks like it's bootcamp for me. All I have to do is dig up that copy of XP I had around here somewhere....

I've read lots of posts on other sites about people playing flight sims on Macs and the only total successes have been under Bootcamp. This is available through Leopard but requires a windows OS. Your mac becomes a PC and also vulnerable to PC viruses, etc. Apparently some developers are working on getting games to work with programs like Parallels but I haven't heard anything yet.

Good stuff. Looking at buying a new PC/laptop now and this is good to hear

I've been flying G3.5 on parallels 4 for the last week, with my iMac (2.8GHz, 8800GS) I get about 60fps with RF set to 1280x800. It's nice to be able to fly without having to reboot the mac into bootcamp ... although you can't been RF at 1920x1200 when running native under bootcamp :D

I downloaded G4 demo and that runs fine under parallels as well.

Hope this helps ...

Kewl and thanks

So the 9400M should work?

The 8800GS is a much higher end GPU than the 9400M. That said under bootcamp, I'm guessing the 9400M would be fine, under parallels maybe not so much.

I have a 13" macbook pro with the 9400M, if I have time I can give it a shot and report back. Give me a day or two ...

I'm Mac-tarded. Is the 8800 a card that comes with or aftermarket

it's the built in graphics card that came with my iMac. I bought it last summer, it was the higher end graphics card option on the 24" model.
