Guys,
My name is Brad Christy from Miamisburg, OH, a little 'burg south of Dayton. I am a toolmaker by trade and I build and race high performance model boats. I have been making parts for the boating world for six years. These bulk of this work includes:
Connecting rods:
Made from either 7075-T6 aluminum or 6Al4V titanium, with 544 phosphor bronze bushings, some with hardened steel sleeves in the lower end for roller bearings. Any engine, any size. If I don't already have specs, all I need a sample part that is at least usable to obtain dimensions from. I can also do custom work.
Pistons.:
Machined from RSA-431 aluminum, a 30% silicon alloy that is very strong and extremely wear resistant, with a very low thermal expansion coefficient. Again, any engine, any size, and customs are available. The great thing about these pistons is that all the work modifying the sleeve is not lost if the piston fails or wears out. I re-hone the sleeve and fit a new piston to it.
I also make various other pieces of hardware for boats:
Strut ass'ys, rudder ass'ys, motor mounts, carborator spraybars, etc...
I am looking to expand my services to the other markets of the RC industry, including cars, planes and heli's.
