It's only a toy r/c, a new bright '69 chevelle. I bought it for my 3 yr old
daughter as an early christmas gift because it was cheap and it had an
unusual frequency of 40.680MHz. It takes a 6volt battery in the car and a
9vlot in the transmitter. The batteries are new and charged.

She likes it because now daddy, mommy and her can all play r/c cars at the
same time (daddy and mommy use 27 and 49 mhz)

They don't have anymore of that frequency in the store. It worked perfect
for one day.

Here is what is wrong with it:
It doesn't go in reverse, no motor noise or anything.
It doesn't always go in fowards.
Steering is fine.

I have taken it apart and the (switches? knobs? contoller sticks?) all touch
the metal that they are supposed to touch.
I am not too bad with a soldering gun and wires.

Please any help is appreciated to make my daughter smile again.
I know its only a cheap toy car, but I cannot afford a real r/c for her.
Hopefully in the future I can buy her a nice one.

Thanks for your help

If it doesn't work, send it back to the shop for replacement?

But then I don't think you can because you've already took it apart...
therefore you void the warranty!!

The toy store can only replace it with a 49 or 27 mhz car, but I want to
keep he freuency as 40 mhz.

Swap the chip, if possible?

40 Mhz is normally for boats these days, (certainly here in the uk) don't
know about where you are.
Regards.....Mark.

G'Day,

I would have the vehicle replaced and take whatever frequency they have.
It's not expensive to change one of your other cars' frequency's. Chances
are it might not even be the same channel as you already have.
Seriously, if it's a cheaper unit, you're better off replacing the whole
thing if you can.

Merry Christmas,
Brad.

Strictly speaking, it's for "surface" modelling use - i.e., anything which isn't an aircraft.

Not sure about radio-controlled tunnelling machine models... ;-)
