Took the JR Venture out for her maiden voyage today. Was to
lazy to got to a large (not back yard large) area today, so back yard
it was.
After some last minute pitch and throttle checks I was spinning up
ready for the adventure!
Well, as I applied the nitro and got light in the skids, she
spun around like a top! Weird! Kept doing it... Ahhh, gyro was
reversed or acutally, wasnt, but needed to be!
So after a flick of the switch we were back up to speed. got
light in the skids, took it up a few inches, a couple click back and
left, and we were hovering, in fact before I knew it I had hovered a
tank out. Thank goodness for header tanks and orange fuel;)
So filler up was all I thought and in a flash was back to the
1 ft hover, ahh what the heck took 'er up to 4ft, 5ft, 6ft... NICE!
Acutally seemes easier to hover at about 6 ft than 1 ft, but neither
was a problem.
So all in all I am happy with my first flights, trimmed out
and no damage.

I also only found a few bugs in the JR Venture ARF Coonstruction
Process. I will cover these in a write up on curious.net whenver I get
a chance to overhaul the site.

If ANYONE is intrested or have any ideas about running a r/c heli sub
site let me know.

Ok I deserved that one, I meant a R/C Heli Website, a sub site to
Curious.net. I have got to remember to make myself clear on these NGs,
OOOPS, News Groups.

Mike a friend of mine has this model and we have found the following items
to be high failure...

the gromets between the frame and the skids will split and you no longer
have landing skids (they fall off)... nix the gromets or drill thru and put
a long bolt in so if they split your skids can't depart the Heli.

The bracket that holds the verticle fin and the boom support is prone to
cracking and the tail drive belt will then come lose in a hurry. replace
with alum unit to fix this.

if you do happen to crash it (hope not anytime soon.) the molded frame is
prone to hairline cracks.... inspect it very closely... if they are not in
critical areas... fill with epoxy and practice some more..

overall it is a nice flying machine... one of the easier CCPM machines to
set up.

But I'll stick with my "CRAPTOR " ..... hey, I like it!
