There are many ways to make an ORDINARY pirate ship look like the Black Pearl. for all those who cannot afford to get the "King's Ransom" to convert into the Black Pearl, Here is an Easier way to do it, and cost much less too. there are only 5 steps on how to do this so good luck! :)
these are the ships i used for conversion:

the steps are simple. all you have to do is paint it black, with any black spray paint. i recommend quality paints so it won't come off very easily.

step 1

make sure to CUT OFF the figurehead on the Bow of the ship, and carefully remove the figurehead of the armada set black pearl. Attach it with hot glue or super glue to the r/c. make sure to glue it to the bottom half of the ship too!

step 2--- you will need the hot glue here

cut off the lanterns on the stern of the armada ship. make sure to get it all so that you can have the decorations too, i messed that up on mine. remove the steering wheel on the very back of the ship and reposition it in front of the power switch. you do not need to take this off the armada black pearl ship. don't forget to cut off the annoying flag there on the stern

step 3

cut off all the sails of the r/c ship and make sure to save the rigging of the sails. the ones that attach the masts don't really matter, its just for show.
find an old black shirt and cut out sails as needed. its up to you if you want them tattered (full of holes) or not, i prefer not because the sails catch more wind that way. add the sails to the masts, which should be very easy because they easily bend w/o breaking! to make the main sail on the stern of the ship, you will need to make the triangular sail instead of the normal square. place it on like the normal sail would, but you will need some string or good fishing line to bend and hold down the sail.

step 4

make sure to cut the plastic rudder on the armada ship and attach that to the black pearl that you are making with hot glue and black electric tape. this will allow easier control of the ship later. it will adjust the how straight the ship will go.

step 5--- you need 3 AA batteries for this (better when they are used up)

place one on each of the following locations indicated by the red boxes:

you will need to remove a type of foam cover and place the batteries in them.
for the lower box, you will need to hot glue this onto it. place the film back and place the battery pack on top of it vertically so the batteries save space.
you will then need to hot glue a second battery on top of the previous.

the reason for adding these batteries is so that the ship has more balance and provides a balast for itself.

After all that, you're done, enjoy your Black Pearl.

the final outcome should look like this :

btw if u want a three stage mast, remove the upper sails off the armada pearl and make small incisions to the crows nests and attach it to the top portion of the r/c's masts

Excellent!! Have you given any thought to making it a fully operational RC sailboat?

How many of the sails can you control? Can you show me how you rigged it?

i really chose to use the motors to control it instead, but the motors also act as a rudder, so the best way i did it was to use the ship to sail with the wind and turn the sails to the direction of the wind. i miss understood u about the "fully operational sail" part. i thought that u meant it was just a floating model. anyway, my bad on that!. thanks for looking at my ship :)
