OK guys I realize this is RC GROUPS but most of you have been around awhile and can help me out with your vast storehouse of knowledge (enough butter?). I'm the website admin for the WSBA website. As such I field the e-mails which come into the site's webmail box. I received a request for assistance from SSG Stephen Wolfe stationed in Iraq. He is looking for guidance on plastic model ships to work on during his down time. I asked him what he is interested in doing and he would like to model a commercial vessel like a cruise ship (ala Carnival Cruise). Does anybody know of a plastic kit of a cruise ship? If not I would steer him towards a Liner like the Mary Deuce (Queen Mary II for the less hip :D ) or the completely overdone Titanic (BTW what ever happened to the Lusi?). Another soldier asked about a ship in the bottle kit, any suggestions? We have a club meeting Thursday and I'm going to put it to our members then. I just thought I'd tap a few more brains here. SSG Wolfe has met the coordinator for the model clubs in Iraq so he may have a avenue for supplies set up. His wife can purchase kits to send him but she needs to know what to buy. SSG Wolfe has limited access to the internet so shopping that way is not an option. He has been doing models since he was 8yrs old so he should be able to handle a advanced kit. Resources may be limited as he is some distance away from Baghdad.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Prins Willem, your posting brought up something that I find rather surprising, and that is, there is nobody out there doing a plastic kit of a cruise ship. ;)

I recently saw that an R/C kit of a cruiser is being offered, by Robbe or Graupner, but that won't help a guy in the field with limited facilities. :(

Other than the ones you've mentioned already, there's little selection. :o

If plastic and sailing are not absolute requirements, there are the paper offerings from
http://www.digitalnavy.com/
and
http://www.papershipwright.co.uk/index.shtml
who both do freebie sample downloads, and a wide range of subjects between them.

I don't know if I'm remembering right (too may years of chemical fumes) but doesn't Glencoe or somebody offer the SS United States?
