I'm a huge fan of the 21st Century iron as well as their iron sock. I hate the el cheapo linen socks that you can get on e-Bay and everywhere else. My question is this: has anyone found a way to clean the covering color residue from the socks? I've tried washing them with LOTS of bleach and no dice. They are still infused with the color of the last covering job and it CAN transfer to the new covering. Are they "cleanable" in some way or are they just disposable as I suspect? I've been throwing them away for a long time but if someone has found a way to recycle them I'm all ears. I use at least two of them on every covering job. Is this normal for you guys too? Just looking for a way to save a few bucks.

Wow, that's a tough order.

Scrubbing with Monokote trim solvent might work. That stuff will even remove memories.

You can clean residue from the iron itself by wiping with a fabric softener sheet while the iron is hot.
I have never tried cleaning the covers.

If nothing else, the trim solvent will remove the unwanted color from your new covering job.

Old sheets work great and one will last for ever. Just cut it up and secure it with a wire tie from a loaf of bread.
