Does anyone have experience using this plane as a UAV platform? Is there enough space to put an autopilot, batteries, and a 1" x 1" x 3 1/2" digital pencam?

Yes, there's barely enough room for a PicoPilot autopilot or something of that size. You'll want to mod the EasyStar for better performance and weight-savings first, however. Here's (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blog/show?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A3387) a post on DIY Drones on how to do that, and here's (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blog/show?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A4251) another post on how to add a proper camera.
It's a bit tight, however, and we recommend the Multiplex Cularis, which is a bigger foam glider, instead. More details on how to do that here. (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blog/show?id=705844%3ABlogPost%3A16510)

I have taken another approach with my Easy Star for photos. Not a UAV (yet )

I fit 3c2100 battery, FMA copilot, autopilot board, rc rx, and garmin 301 in mine and it worked pretty good. Had to put a bigger motor and a smaller rudder on it....
