Hey guys, I have an old FP-FC-1 Futaba Flight Checker and left over from my old AM radio gear and was wondering if it can be converted to work with my new equipment. The unit plugged into the RX on one of the servo channels and a loud electric buzzer then plugged into the unit. The unit would monitor the battery level and when it started to drop into the danger zone it would set off the buzzer so you could land before the battery gave out. If the model landed where you couldn't see it, all you had to do was turn off your TX and the buzzer would sound so you could find your plane. All in all a handy unit to have installed in any plane and especially a sailplane.

The plug that goes into the RX was male and all the new servo connections are now female. So is there either an adapter that can be had or can the plug be changed over to female? If so... Will it still work with the new equipment? I'd really like to be able to use this piece of equipment again and from what I've seen on the Futaba site they no longer make anything like this.

I can't see a reason why it shouldn't work. You will need to change the plug from the old style to the new one, thats a simple snip n solder job. Let us know how you got on, post a pic if you can.

OK I can do that. But... Where can I lay my hands on a replacement plug without having to use one from my new equipment? I just can't see tearing apart a brand new servo for parts.

Cheapest way is to cut a servo extension lead in half, one part for the gizmo, the other part for a new receiver pack

Well I found an even easier way to do what I want. Futaba actually makes an adapter to do it. FUTM4120 is the part number I got from their site.

Thanks for the ideas anyway!

Got to the LHS and picked up the part I needed. Got it all hooked up and it's working just like the old days. LOL Now I just need to lay my hands on a couple more of these little jewels.
