Greetings from France, here are some pics of Cormoran, an inexpected Christmas gift: is she the model of a real launch that you can identify ???
she's about 1.2 meters long, powered by a Gannet 15 CC 4 cycle engine and has been built during the 60's by an old and skilled gentleman near Marseille.
She is still in perfect original condition and I'm lucky enough to be the third owner...
every help or clue will be welcome !
Happy Xmas and best regards, Chris

Thats a fine example of an Aerokits Fairy Swordsman.. a kit produced in the UK in the mid 1960's.

The real Swordsman..

.. and i wouldn't mind one of those engines if you have one spare... :o

The Gannet is expensive when sold in the USA. May be easier to find and less costly in the UK.

Beautiful boat...

Is it not a Precedent Kit? or a Veron?

I think it may be, I didn't think Aerokits did one....but then again?

Many thanks for your help gentlemen, you've spotted a Fairey by aerokit, I had not minded to her at all, these vintage beauties are not very common on the shores of Mediterranée ...

Yes! :) I have another Gannet, the model without magneto but I prefer to keep it as spare engine ;)
Thanks again, Chris

Looking at the high quality involved I should think the builder sat there with a set of drawings then built from scratch.

Most of the early "kits" advantage was that it saved one the trouble of collecting all the various woods etc needed for the build.

Skills requirements were still at a premium.

The average modeler could only compare the vision on the boxlid with the "lumps" of balsa etc on the table and sigh!

I know, I was there..

Amazing craftsmanship. I love the engine. The tug type bow bumper is interesting. The only thing I dont like are the vents, they look out of place. The rest of the boat looks sleek and the vents look like smaller versions of a steam tug vents. Outstanding overall...thanks for posting the pics.
