Hi-I'd like to convert my old Cap 232 84" wingspan running a gas 42cc engine with I think a 22x8 prop to electric.

The only spec I want to use is either a 12s or 13s battery pack (i.e. 3x4s=12s or 2x4s+1 5s=13s).

Any ideas on motor ESC combos? I am not familiar with large motors. Thanks for any ideas.

For a starting point:
A60-18L
Spin 99
12s 5000
24x12 APC-e or Zoar
4000 ish watts

The specs for the A60 18L motor show it as Max 2600w at max 60amps on 10s.
Will this motor hold up to 12s at 4000watts for a little bit of time? Or even 3000watts?

Any similar setups around?

This motor is WAY under rated. It will hold up just fine at 4000 (and probably more) watts. I've been flying this setup in an 85" 16lb 3DH Katana, and it's an outstanding setup. It should pull that Cap around with authority.

+1 for the A60-18L. I use mine on 12s at 3500-3700W. Many flights, no problems. On your plane, you could, if you wanted, use it at a measly 2500-3000W, and it'll still have more power than your current setup and should last basically forever. Me, I'd go for the gusto and make that Cap really haul.

IMO all of the big Hackers are under rated. I'm running a A60-18M at 3000-3600 watts. Many many flights and no issues at all. I pushed the A60-22S in my Sundowner well past 3000 watts as well. The key here is throttle management. You can burn one of these up (and your packs/ESC) fairly quickly if you run around wide open all the time.
