REPOST
For any R/C hobbyist who mixes their own glow engine fuel, this app is
handy.
I went to Mix a batch and found myself doing the usual calculations.
Meth, Nitro, Synth oil and Castor.
I decided to scrap messing with the calcuator and pen and whipped up
this little proggie to do the calcs and spit out the volumes..
Took all of an Hr but it rather handy and when posted in an RC group
got piles of downloads to my amazement it wasnt intended.
Anyway if you mix your own glow juice, grab this.

Uses standards keys
Use Tab key to move around
Shift + Tab to back step
Up / Down arrow keys to scroll values.
Set scale
Set total volume.
Set % of each values then adjust Meth or other to balance total, when
they make 100% of vol it will indicate correct weight and show output
volumes for each part.
Prints output values or saves values to Clipboard to paste to notepad,
word, excel or any other program you can paste text..
Detects Metric or US settings in Windows or choose the scale yourself
The installer

Why do you measure by volume?

All good fuel is measured by volume.
50% nitro is a half gallon of nitro, and
the other half gallon is alky and oil.
Thats the way we always did it, only
way to do it.

Well, I am not really educated in this but, it would made sense to me that
measuring by weight would be more accurate. Lets say the atmospheric
conditions are such that the nitro has expanded. The volume is thereby
increased. You may end up with less nitro in the control volume.
if you measured by weight, it would not matter what the conditions are
because you would always have the same weight no matter the volume.
Whatcha think?

You'll also end up with less oil and less methanol. They expand too.
Overall, unless you do something drastic like mix the oil and methanol
outside in the middle of the night on the coldest day of winter, then
add the nitromethane in an asphalt parking lot at noon on the hottest
day of summer, the difference will be negligible.

When you mix by volume, you actually end up with more nitro in the
fuel, IIRC. For example, 50% nitro by weight may only be 40% by
volume. That's a big difference. If you're a nitro hog, which would
you rather have?

I think you're beating the long since fossilized remains of a horse.
