Has anyone tried colored LED's under white iron on covering? I'm thinking of covering a balsa plane I'm building in white monocote (with a few accents for orientation) so that it looks normal during the day, but lights up internally at night with the flip of a switch. The LED's I'm going to use are in the 5000mcd to 13000mcd brightness range, depending on the color.
Would this be worth trying? Or is it better to just use transparent covering?

Would this be worth trying? Or is it better to just use transparent covering? Some plastic coverings are very opaque. You may have to experiment with different brands. Start with SoLite or something similar. They are not transparent but offer more light to penetrate than regular covering.
Most of the models I see using LEDs and plastic covering are the 'transparent' kind. I wouldn not recommend the "clear" plastic as this does not allow your light to diffuse at all. Try the white SoLite...I think that's the best choice (unless someone else counters me). :)

This one is white towerkote. I bought it because it was the cheapest, and is a low temp covering.
