Dear All

It looks like I'm going to be a lucky boy and get a Tmaxx for Christmas.

I'm in the Uk and Know that a lot of you guys are in the states.
I must say why can't the uk have a model store like towerhobbies.

But the real reason for my posting is that a colleague at work who is
American did the dollars to sterling exchange rate on a tmaxx
I think the difference is shocking. Hope you guys are all sitting down.

420 pounds over here
433 dollars fom towerhobbies
convert pounds into dollars and the price is 255dollars

Same deal for both but a huge price difference

If you want to have a look at the site where i got the uk info then check
out www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk

Any views on if the Tmaxx is anygood. It will be my first new r/c in around
10 years
Regards

Martin

*sobs*
380.00 GBP = 1,064.77 Australia Dollars
389.99 USD = 695.128 Australia Dollars
plus postage and any custom taxes.

Tower is suprisingly good, my LHS has the original Maxx's for $1200.

it is pretty sad at the price's we gotta pay compared to the rest of the
world .. but thats with eveything not just R/C cars .. then again were crazy
to pay anything for something newer and faster all the time .. and to be
honest i cant wait for the T-Maxx 2.5 to hit our LHS

All I know, and heard from friends, are that LHS are not to be blamed at
all.
In UK, we have too few main distributors, and they are a complete RIP OFF!
They charge huge amounts for not only models, but the spares and upgrades
too. There don't seem to be any regulation on this. I'm sure they get a fat
bonus for Christmas, at our expense. If HK, Japan, US, S'pore, Taiwan etc
can have it so much cheaper, we should have similar prices too.

I usually get my parts/upgrades from HK or S'pore whenever possible.

Has anyone successfully imported a T-Maxx 2.5 at a resonable price?

You won't see a huge difference in price, but check out
www.dms-racing.com or www.modelsportuk.com both good on-line retailers
in the UK, with an actual shop to back them up too, and a little bit
cheaper...

Try this German site (one of the best price in europe):

www.t-maxx2000.de

If you live in Europe you do not pay tax and duties ... easy ...

Tower will ship to the UK. Even after paying shiping and import charges it
is cheaper than buying from UK shops.

First off...how many hours of work does it take to earn 420 pounds?? and
then if I order from there there is import tariff and taxes etc. Cheaper to
buy here..

I just did a search on the currency exchange for British Pounds to US Dolars
and came up with the folowing.......
420 BRITISH POUND (GBP) = 659.2110 US DOLLARS (USD)

So guys.... No you can not go to the UK, and get a T-Maxx for $255.00 (US)
Somehow the original poster is confused.
It IS interesting to note that...........
255 BRITISH POUND (GBP) = 400.2352 US DOLLAR (USD)
He's got it all backwards.
Thanks for playing.

....if it ever arrives. My brother ordered a load of stuff for his
rustler from tower. he chased them up many times but 3 months later
it still hadn't arrived. good luck.

FYI,

We (a miniz club, in Ipswich) normally buy my minz parts from this HK site.
http://www.dinball.com

So far, we never got taxed in the UK, as the parcels were always declared as
36 pounds or less, although we spend somthing like $200 US dollars for each
order. They only accept paypal, which is secure and better than using credit
cards.

I know this is not right, but we never asked them to declare a lower value,
so technically they are liable. I guess they wanted to draw in international
customers.

They have been reliable and fast (usually delivered in 5-7days). However,
they don't have T-maxx 2.5 yet. I'll probably order from them (when they
have it, hopefully) instead of paying a riduculars amount in UK. Generally
they don't do big RC cars.

For example, OS-21RZ-V01B(P) Engine is sold at US$205 + delivery. But over
here it cost £250!
I've been using this engine since early this year, and its a crazy engine!

Cheers,
Ben B

It wasn't an 'option' as such, just that I refused point blank to send the
fax with the whole number visible, and managed to persuade them to accept
the partial number.
