A child, born and bored by the sweat and smell of his father's passion waits endlessly for the day to end.

A father, cutting, measuring and forming a crude expression of a well worn and natural form.

A mother, filled with love, adoration and contempt for this synthetic mistress.

The mood and shape of time translates, changes and eventually fades.

He remembers the long days and the words only men could use.

He grows older, never knowing why his father loved her so.

Yet, when the wind is right, or the sound fills the air, his head cranes skyward.

Never having the courage to move from the familiar, or leave the safe, he lives as the others do.

He's met the girl, attained scholarly lauds and filled life's checklist one by one.

Pain.

He remembers the sound, love, smiles, frowns, fabric, sweet solvent and metallic bones.

Life is neither safe, nor a list to be minded. His father knew this, yet how?

I've flown in my dreams, or at times vicariously through the tales of greater others.

Today I live.

Today, I toil and open my heart to risk, passion and lust...

Today, I soar.

What a great combination of poetry and picture. It's sure to be wallpaper for many a soaring enthusiast.
A hearty "Well done, sir!",
