Hello all!
So I have a new Hangar 9 Spitfire ARF and I am not too impressed with the color and glossyness of the current covering. I am looking to change it more to a MKV (and add cannons) where there is a bluish grey/olive drab paint scheme with airbrushed panel lines, ehxaust/gun streaks, and silver wear spots. I am getting an airbrush soon.

Now, I have zero experience with painting on these coverings, making a quick scan of some online articles filled with millions of techniques and products to prevent blistering, fuel dissolving result, I find myself quickly overwhelmed. What I am looking for is an agreed upon simple yet successful step by step process to paint the model with paints I can find without too much difficulty. (any hints on where to find them would be great!). I can definitely make this look good as long as I have an method.

I've been suggested Rustoleum which seems nice on a test piece I have done, yet I run into problems when trying to find the correct matte colors/clear coats without mixing enamel with acrylic or latex. Will Testor model paints work? I ask about them because of their array of warbird flat colors in spray and bottle (for airbrushing).

So if anyone who;s done this has a relatively reasonable step by step process from priming to protecting...I'm all ears!!! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the help!! :)

PS: I've already peeled off the layers of camo strips so I just have the base covering.
