M.
Good ?. I would like to know too.

ok if we ignore the some rather major floors in the real flight physics...
the most real plane for you depends on what your flying. no point flying a jet on the sim if you are flying a shocky for real!
of course another sim (which some companies seem to trying very hard to keep from you) may offer you a better physics set with more adjustability to get the model flying just like your own.

I think he is asking what plane in it's stock form flies the most realistically for 3d PRACTICE/TRAINING. For example, the Yak variants all fly differently.

That's a reather subjective question. In order to answer it you'd have to have several models set-up exactly as the RealFlight 3D Planes. I don't know of anyone who has even one plane set-up "exactly" like the RealFlight 3D planes.
I think you're looking for perfection where perfection doesn't exist. No simulator is going to represent all of the qualities, quirks and flaws of a real model plane. There are just too many variables. Use the simulator for what it designed for - to train your thumbs and keep them "active" on those days when you can't fly your real models.

Good gosh, a re you two still at it? Both of you are the reason I've stopped playing either of your sims.
Stefan, is there a law against using paid shills on a forum? Is is a bannable offense on this forum in particular? Do the forum moderators seem to mind whether or not people use "paid shills"? No? No? No?
Then please, please, please give it a rest. It's creepy (in a worms-are-crawling-all-over-me kinda way) to have to read your petty (and pretty much ineffective) jabs at your competitors. Focus on what's good about YOUR product and how to convince others of that.
Ade, you're not much better. I've tried Phoenix; borrowed it from my brother, lent it to my boss ... of the three of us, none have found it as good as its competitors as a training tool.

Here is the original question:

Do you think his answer was on the point?

nil8r,
I thank you for finally providing a "real" answer after others spent 3 days of arguing about a non-related question.

You in no way answered the question. What you did was hijack the thread for your own anti realflight purposes. You also exhibited an elitest know it all attitide towards a very simple question. If you can't give a real answer than stay off of the thread and move along.

i asked what he flies. if you fly a shocky then theres no point learning on something that flies differently to the model your going to use for real you will have to relearn everything when you start flying your own model.
just for the record i make nothing from sales of phoenix so how that means im a vendor im not really sure.

To imply that pilots with extensive real life 3D experience all view RealFlight as inaccurate is disingenuous. The fact is, RealFlight is very well regarded by a large number of experienced 3D pilots. Many people cite its powerful editor as the best way to match the performance of their real life aircraft--3D and otherwise--in an R/C simulation. In fact, top competition pilots that we talk to find RealFlight to be a very realistic and useful tool.
I'm not interested in denigrating other sims. I just want to see this thread get back on topic because I think the original question deserves an answer. Having said that, as an employee of Knife Edge Softare (in case my username didn't make it clear :)), I don't feel comfortable answering it. It's largely a matter of opinion, and I sense the original poster would rather hear from other ReallFlight users.

We had a simple question relating to realflight. The question was not whether or not realflights' flight model was worthy of 3D flying or anything else. It was simply asking which is most realistic of the planes available.
Like I said, if you don’t have an answer just stay off of the thread and move along. An answer means the name of a plane in realflight.
As I posted earlier in the thread some good info can be found here:

the most real plane for you depends on what your flying. no point flying a jet on the sim if you are flying a shocky for real!
im confused....
im going to clarify this...
the idea of the sim is that it teaches you to fly your own model. Therefore the model to learn on is the one that is closest to yours.
so we need to know what model you fly the model that flies most like your own may not look much like it.

PS... blimey managed a whole post without mentioning how biased the moderation of this forum is becoming.

To answer the original poster's question, all of the 3D aircraft in RealFlight have been tuned by top pilots, such as Jason Noll and John Glezellis, and all of them will teach you "3D" flying quite well.
Assuming you are a novice trying to get into 3D aerobatics, it is probably easiest if you start with one of the giant scale planes.
I personally prefer the "Russian Thunder" themed Yak-54 (3D). The Cap 580 in Expansion Pack 1 is also very good.
For G4, the Extra 300L is tuned well and I think it makes a great plane for practicing 3D.
There are almost two thousand aircraft on the RealFlight swap pages that you can play with as well. The realism of these varies but there are many examples of exceptional planes and it is kind of fun to experiment with them so I recommend you just start downloading some and get involved with the RealFlight community, which is quite active.
Make sure you use the hover trainer to practice hovering. That will make it much easier to transition to other 3D moves, like rolling harriers.
I hope that helps answer your question.

Jim i couldnt dissaggree more with your recomendations on models. the best model to learn with on the sim is the one that flies closest to your own. Anything else means your going to have to relearn a lot of stick movements when you transfer to the real thing.
Ok. I suppose there are many ways to look at it.
I think the benefit of a sim is that it can give you experience with all kinds of models you don't already have. If he tries out a lot of different models he will be better off than if he religiously practices with a single one.
The important thing here is that I'm trying to offer a helpful response to the original poster, who may not have a real model at all.
the moderation here is becoming a joke...
I'm sorry you feel that way. Please take it up in Site Suggestions / Complaints.
tower hobbies have stopped ordering phoenix, rcgroups wont let them advertise, they did the same to reflex, whats the matter guys affraid of a bit of healthy competition? damnit you might even have to do some proper work on the physics soon shock horror
Phoenix is perfectly welcome to advertise here at RCGroups. We welcome the participation of every hobby vendor. I will make sure they receive a call from our sales staff to let them know that.
RealFlight's physics are very, very good. I say that both on my own authority, which is extensive, and on the authority of the many very capable pilots I work with to tune the physics. I could understand if you felt like another product was better. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. But I think it is a bit much to carry on as if RealFlight is hopelessly wrong.
In any case, none of these issues have to do with this thread and you simply aren't allowed to drift the threads to your pet interest. Perhaps the "trolling" warning applies more than "overcompetition" but if you are acting like a competitor then it is probably confusing the moderators. That isn't my doing. It's yours.

thanks for clearing that up Jim i think you need to talk to your advertising team as i know this is different to what they had been told maybe you could look into it?
im sorry your moderators feel i have been trolling. maybe i have been a little blunt occasionally but i also feel that some members have also treated me and others unfairly and its been myself or them that have been given warnings and had good information removed.
remove the warnings, let myself and spacey reinstate our posts. we will edit the parts that you feel go outside the rules.
thanks for responding,
