Guys
I posted a similar question on another part of ezone but havent gotten any responce so Im over here. Heres the Question:
Our club wants to purchase a set of long poles for retrieving aircraft out of trees. We are trying to prevent injusry to some of our club members. They will be used to get the combat planes out of a tree that always seems to ear foamies. What kind of poles do the freeflight guys use?
Any suggestions will be used. Thanks in advance.

Now that I am too old to climb trees, I suppose I will have to resort to other methods. Climbing and shaking worked well for me through freeflight, s/c r/c and sailplanes, but time is now not on my side. Some of the guys used fishing gear, minus the hooks, just the weight. Useable stuff is always available at yard sales, etc. Trust me, foamies will survive that retrieval system better than most freeflight models! :D

Golf ball retrieval poles can be had in up to about 30 foot lenghts. These are telescopic sets that collapse to about 5 feet long. Other than that there's always a bow and arrow with a cord attached to the tail....... and the point taken off of course... :D
Someone else I know has had very good luck using a powerful slingshot with a golf ball and light cord about like chalk line from the hardware store. Shoots the line up and across the branch and grabs the two ends and shakes the branch. Compact set of gear too.
PS: Oo, ooo, I just had another idea. Get a whole bunch of those paint roller extensions. The kind with the screw parts at BOTH ends and you can make up a 40 to 45 foot pole before the whole thing collapses down onto itself.
havin fun

Jeff,
You could try Hastings. They sell telescopic fiberglass poles. They have different lengths and weights. Choosing is difficult, you may want to call them. But here's the link: http://www.hfgp.com/ Good luck
